The version of Metropolis (1927) that we discussed on this podcast is called "The Complete Metropolis", released in 2010 by KINO International. This edition is currently available on Blu-ray and DVD. This is the only edition that contains the complete film with the re-recorded soundtrack.
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda weird when it comes to comedy. Many different things make me laugh. I like slapstick, which is considered to be "low comedy," but I also like intelligent humor (the kind where the punchline may not hit you until a second later, or you have to be smart to get it). I'm also fond of what I like to call "nerd humor," the kind of comedy you see in "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" or in "Red vs. Blue." I typically don't go for "dirty jokes" unless they're done in a clever fashion, which they rarely are.
ReplyDeleteI can attest that writing comedy is hard. I've written a few short comedy films and a whole comedy novel. You have to find a rhythm, and that can be difficult to find starting off. Once you find it, the jokes start firing off like a machine gun.
I would've thought I'd have more to say on this subject, but I can't think of anything else.
